From 3 to 7 people can play. The game is best when played with 4 to 6. A game of Oh Hell consists of a series of hands, played with a standard 52 card deck. In each hand players bid how many tricks they are going to take and get points at the end of the hand if they took exactly what they bid. Unlike other trick taking games, a player does not score if he takes more than what was bid. The first round, players each start with one card. The next round each player is dealt two cards, and each successive hand size is increased by one, up to the maximum hand size. The maximum hand size is whatever can be dealt out evenly to all the players. Extra cards are set aside after each player has received the appropriate number of cards, and the top one is turned over to define the trump suit. Variants include starting with the maximum hand size and going down to one, starting with one, going up to the maximum, and then back down to one, and starting with the maximum, going down to one, and then back to the maximum. Key characteristics: trick taking, exact bidding, variable hand size Variables: number of hands and order of hand size variation, different scoring systems include losing points for missing the bid, disallowing an even bid (total of all players' bids not allowed to equal the number of tricks), deck variation from standard 52 cards, trump is either random or chosen by high bidder

Bang! is designed 2002 by Emiliano Sciarra. Published by daVinci (Italy). For 4-7 players, although best with 6-7. Takes about 30 minutes to play.A spaghetti-western card game. The cards have Italian text and English subtitles.Shoot on your right and left, have a beer, go to the saloon, hide behind a barrel, escape from jail to find out that your mistress has left with your horse and your Remington gun. Take 2 cards in your turn and play as many card you want from your hand - but there is some psychology in guessing who is what, as it's only the sheriff who is known from the beginning. In his team are the Deputies who should protect him and against them are the outlaws, who wins if the sheriff is killed and the Renegade who wins if he's the last man standing, but he can't kill the sheriff before the outlaws are killed.

Published by Guild of Blades Publishing Group. The Spanish Civil War is 2-6 player territorial strategy game. A variant of the Axis & Allies board game system, it offers an easy to play D10 based combat system and territories with resource values for production. The Spanish Civil War provides two game scenarios. In the historical scenario the Spanish Nationalists and the German/Italian support forces face off against the Spanish Republican forces and their Soviet allies along with the volunteer brigades. The Republic begins game play with more productivity, but must face a stronger Nationalist army and hold ground against it. The second scenario allows for an alternate historical scenario. In this scenario, both Britain and France, who approved of neither the Republic or Nationalists, move to support a Portuguese invasion of Iberia. This is a 3-6 player scenario pitting three unaligned forces against each other for control of both Spain and Portugal.

A set of modern tactical naval wargame rules. Written by Larry Bond and Chris Carlson. There are at least 4 editions. It is a detailed naval wargame available short of the classified ones. Harpoon was used by Tom Clancy during preparation of his first novel, The Hunt for Red October, and also for modelling the story for Red Storm Rising. The game itself is, as most serious naval wargames, meant for play with miniature ships. All ranges are measured in nautical miles. Harpoon uses a free gameboard. There are no hexes or premeasured abstractions. Ships, subs and planes move in degrees and centimeters or inches. Alternatively, the game can be played on graph paper and positions plotted in accordance with orders given. In most games, a referee is useful for those cat-and-mouse scenarios where the referee coordinates the plottings of the players, revealing the enemies' plottings when in range.

Strategic Starship Skirmish System. A game of space combat where thinking ahead is rewarded.A modular rules system. Each race plays by their own rules and can be used as a stand alone game. At the same time however, each race can play against any other race without any problems. Each race is different on how they move, fire, take damage, and even how they go into hyperspace. But the one thing that doesn't’t change is that they are all totally compatible to play against each other. It's a maneuver-based game in which thinking ahead will win the game more than any other factor. For instance, imagine playing a game with three ships aside. Next, you decide to play another game and have the same forces as before, but this time you move one ship over fifteen hexes from the position it started from in the previous game. Now the whole game can change, hinged on that altered starting position.

Games - Board Games - Science Fiction - 6 Billion

Designed by David A Coutts 1999. Published by Board Not Bored Games Pty Ltd. For 2-5 players, 12 years and up. Takes 2-3 hours to play.A game which combines the themes of exponential population growth with the colonisation of our Solar System. The game starts with Earth's population of 6 billion divided between up to 6 factions, including at least one Neutral faction.Players send out colonists and migrants to harvest the riches of the planets and their moons, and the Asteroid Belt. Natural growth limits, plus the Four Riders Of The Apocalypse (War, Famine, Pestilence and Death), slow the growth of your populations. Score points at the end of the game for the biggest and most widespread populations - score double for your Hiden Agenda, or any Discovery cards you hold. Score points during the game for cards played which help the Neutral(s) and other players' populations.Brief Optional Rules allow a player to adjust the otherwise random turn order, and to score bonus points for having a populace which is wealthy, happy or concerned for all life.

But this costs a lot of money, so borrowing is heavy. Players have to be careful to borrow only as much as they need to bid for turn order, lay track, and move goods. At the end of each turn dividends (interest) on the bonds come due. Those who can't pay lose some of their hard-earn cash.
